YouTube comments to leads
CloseUp watches comments on your channel's videos, spots people who want to buy, and helps your team turn them into leads and reply publicly.
Connect your business YouTube channel and choose which videos to watch. CloseUp reads new comments and AI labels buying intent: pricing questions, contact requests, purchase interest and more. Comments from real prospects become leads, and an agent can post a public reply from CloseUp, starting from an AI draft.
YouTube never shares a commenter's phone or email. A YouTube lead starts with the commenter's public name and channel only, until an agent adds contact details or merges it into an existing lead. Views, likes and link clicks never create leads.
Connect your channel
A company admin connects the channel.
- Open Lead SourcesIn the side menu, choose Lead Sources, then YouTube comments.
- Sign in with GoogleClick Connect YouTube channel and sign in with the Google account that manages the channel. If the channel belongs to a Brand Account, pick it in the Google account chooser.
- Approve the permissionApprove the comment-management permission and leave it checked. Without it, CloseUp cannot read or reply to comments.
- Wait for the video scanCloseUp finds the channel's videos. This can take a few minutes. The first comments appear after the sync.
Monitoring settings
On the same screen, under Monitoring settings:
- Which videos to monitor: Every new video automatically or Only videos I pick. In the Videos list you can turn on Monitor comments for any video, including older ones.
- Videos from the last: on the first connection, CloseUp monitors videos published in this period.
- Check for new comments: how often CloseUp looks for new comments.
- Smart AI classification: detects intent in any language. When off, CloseUp uses simple rules only.
- Create leads automatically: off by default. When on, only comments with clear intent at or above Minimum confidence become leads. Everything else stays in the queue for manual review.
- Contact link: a WhatsApp or booking link you can add to replies.
Click Save. To check for new comments right away, click Sync now.
Review prospects
- Open the queueIn the side menu, choose YouTube comments. Each comment shows its intent, a confidence level and a short explanation.
- FilterFilter by status, intent and confidence. The Interested filter shows only comments with buying intent.
- DecideClick Create lead to create a lead, then use Assign to rep or automatic routing. Click Dismiss for comments that do not matter. You can Restore them later.
Intent labels: Pricing question, Contact request, Purchase interest, Service availability, General question, Praise, Spam and Unrelated.
- More comments from the same YouTube channel attach to the same lead. Matching display names never link people.
- The lead card shows a YouTube panel with the comments and replies.
- If the commenter is already a lead, use Merge into an existing lead. Comments and replies move to that lead, and the YouTube-only lead is deleted. CloseUp does not match YouTube and WhatsApp contacts automatically.
Reply publicly
- Open the reply windowClick Reply on a comment in the queue, or open the YouTube panel on the lead card.
- Write the replyWrite it yourself or click Draft with AI. The AI only fills the text box, so read and edit before you publish. You can also use Insert contact link.
- Confirm and publishTick the box that confirms the reply is public and posted as the channel, then click Publish reply. After it posts, the status shows Published.
Replies are visible to everyone and posted as your channel. CloseUp never replies automatically: a person sends every reply. Only users with permission to reply on YouTube can publish.
The YouTube 30-day data rule
YouTube policy requires apps to refresh or delete YouTube data within 30 days. This is how CloseUp follows it:
- CloseUp re-checks stored comments every day. Edits are updated and deleted comments are removed.
- Comment data that was not refreshed within 30 days is deleted, and its text is removed from the lead's timeline.
- Disconnect deletes all stored comments and videos and removes comment text from lead timelines. The leads themselves stay.
- If you revoke CloseUp's access in your Google account and it stays revoked for 7 days, all stored comments and videos are deleted.
- Intent labels are stored with the comment and deleted with it.
